Ornament Traditions

Just a quick post today to share a tradition we started when Lou {now age 7} was a baby.

Each year on Christmas Eve we give each of the kids an ornament that is fitting to their personality and interests.

The last two years we have decided that this makes the perfect {inexpensive} gift for our girls to give to each other.  We have them draw names so each girl gives and receives one ornament.

It's exciting for them to think a little deeper about what their sisters' interests are and then go out and find an ornament that fits the bill.

Pictured above are just a few of the favorites -

The first is a miniature burp cloth {Maisy's favorite thing to cuddle up with until she was about 3}.
The second is Lou's favorite animal.
The third symbolizes Lou's passion for riding her tricycle when she was 3 years old.

We also have a dinosaur, a Cinderella, a baby mobile, a Hello Kitty, and a reindeer just to name a few.

Do you have an ornament tradition you would like to share with me in the comments?

How do your children give gifts to each other?

  1. That is funny- we do the same exact thing. It's fun to reminisce and see how they evolve each year. Thank you so much for your sweet comment on Classified: Mom!
